PILATES FOR RUNNERS

Running can put a lot of strain on the body, especially as we begin to fatigue - our posture and form can start to be affected. When there is an imbalance in the body, any problems that arise can be exacerbated due to the repetitive nature of the movement.

Pilates targets the supporting muscles, in particular the core stabilising muscles, focusing on correct alignment throughout every movement. Strengthening the postural muscles in this way will help you to maintain good form while running and help prevent injuries.

But the benefits don't stop there. Improving your posture and stability while running allows your muscles to function more efficiently, helping to improve performance (see study).
